Microsoft Announces Old Lumia Phones Excluded From Upgrade

So now we come to know that the company has skipped some of the Windows 8.1 devices that were earlier declared compatible with the latest operating system.

Microsoft, with the arrival of the Lumia 650 onwards, is now looking at branding their phones as business devices, and the company will now be focusing more on the business class users, giving their devices more of a blackberry-like appeal.

Announced yesterday, the debut of the new Windows preview was accompanied by the long-awaited rollout of Windows 10 Mobile, now available to only a select group of Windows 8.1 phones. However, as the roll out of the new Windows operating system ensued, the company revealed that some handsets like the Lumia 1020, Lumia 520, and Lumia 920 will remain stuck on Windows Phone 8, Neowin reported.

Microsoft has also given a list of devices that are supposed to be upgraded to Windows 10 Mobile OS: Lumia 735, Lumia 1520, Lumia 640XL, Lumia 532, Lumia 535, Lumia 430, Lumia 636 1GB, Lumia 640, Lumia 540, Lumia 435, Lumia 635 1GB, Lumia 638 1GB, Lumia 830, Lumia 730 and Lumia 930. Now, they promised that this will not happen again, but Microsoft repeated the old steps.

Recently, Microsoft secretly removed a reference to its Store page which went "upgradeable to Windows 10 when available" for the Win JR LTE, and this has annoyed owners who bought the handset. This means that all Windows Phone users should check if their device falls on the list. But, it seems like they've broken their announcement promise.
