Titans sign former Steelers linebacker

The former Miami Hurricane spent four seasons in Pittsburgh after being selected by the Steelers in the third round of the 2012 NFL Draft.

Spence is the second free agent addition to the defense this offseason (the first was cornerback Brice McCain). His 4.71 40-yard dash would have made him the 10th fastest linebacker in the class (I don't count Leonard Floyd because he weighs about as much as a defensive back). Spence, 27, has played in 31 regular games over the last two seasons.

Williamson, Woodyard and Spence are certain to be the Titans' top three inside guys. He is expected to compete for the inside linebacker position, as well as play Special Teams.

Previously he visited the Jaguars and the Dolphins. Spence was the recipient of the Ed Block Courage Award with the Steelers in 2014.

The latest was to sign a free agent contract with the Tennessee Titans, which is a notable one for a player whose career once looked as if it was over before it started. Spence was the 8th off the ball linebacker in the 2012 class, going in the 3rd round to the Pittsburgh Steelers, where current Titans DC Dick LeBeau was coaching.
