Chandler Parsons signing with the Grizzlies!

Grizzlies unrestricted free agent Mike Conley will have up to five suitors preparing maximum-salary contracts, a source confirmed to The Commercial Appeal. Will Parsons give the Blazers what the team needs to take that next step competitively?

There are also rumors out there that Howard may only be getting deals hovering around $15 million annually. The Grizz went out and got Chandler Parsons on a four-year, $94 million deal, as first reported by The Vertical. In fact, the likes of Durant and LeBron James could shatter these figures next summer with five-year deals that top the $200 million mark.

Conley does have familiarity in Memphis in that he and a core group, which include Zach Randolph, Marc Gasol and Tony Allen, have advanced to the playoffs every year since the 2010-2011 season.

Conley ultimately got that wish with the Grizzlies agreeing to a deal with forward Chandler Parsons on Friday.

On the other hand, the Grizzlies have put themselves in the position to add Parsons to the mix with Conley should the two decide to team up in Memphis.

Maybe just as important as what he brings to the floor, Parsons joining the Grizzlies essentially locked up Conley, the biggest point guard on the free-agent market by far.

According to other National Basketball Association rumors, Parsons will also listen to the Memphis Grizzlies in free agency. As these players are restricted free agents, the Blazers can match any deals they are offered (should they turn down the qualifying offers). The litany of misses was its most painful for the Mavericks last summer, when Jordan initially said he would join them before changing his mind and staying with the Los Angeles Clippers.

Going to the Grizzlies also allowed him to reunite with assistant coach Bickerstaff, who was an assistant in Houston when Parsons played there. They also had no real center to speak of.

The news has the Internet in shock, especially since the 28-year-old Conley has never been an All-Star, though he's been known as one of the NBA's most underrated for years.
